Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy 2025, marking a major step toward digital reform in Pakistan.

The decision was taken during a key Federal Cabinet meeting chaired by the prime minister, where the policy received unanimous approval, as reported by the local media.

The AI policy aims to build a strong AI ecosystem in the country. It focuses on increasing access to artificial intelligence, improving public services, and creating new job and innovation opportunities.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan’s youth are its biggest strength. He emphasized the need to equip them with education, skills, and equal opportunities in the AI field.

The policy outlines a clear roadmap to train 1 million AI professionals by 2030. It also includes the launch of an AI Innovation Fund and an AI Venture Fund to promote private sector involvement.

To ensure effective execution, an AI Council will oversee the implementation of the policy. A detailed Master Plan and Action Matrix will guide all related activities and timelines.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Ministry of IT and partner institutions for their timely efforts. He stated that AI will not only transform Pakistan’s economy but will also raise productivity in agriculture, public services, and governance.
