Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken serious notice of the worsening sewage situation in Scheme 33, directing urgent repairs across four union councils.
Speaking at a review meeting, the Chief Minister instructed the Karachi Water Board to immediately address the issue to prevent further inconvenience to residents in the affected areas.
He stressed that failure in the city’s sewage system cannot be tolerated. The infrastructure in Scheme 33 must be improved without delay, he told concerned officials.
Murad Ali Shah said the provincial government is committed to providing quality civic services and warned that any negligence or inefficiency will lead to strict action.
To ensure swift response, he directed the Local Government Minister, Karachi Commissioner, and Water Board officials to conduct a complete survey of the affected areas.
The Chief Minister instructed that repair and rehabilitation work must start immediately after the survey. “Delays will only increase the suffering of the people,” he said.
He also ordered the submission of a detailed report within three days. The report must highlight the current condition, causes of damage, and proposed solutions for the sewerage system.
Officials were told to coordinate closely and ensure that all affected union councils receive timely relief. Public complaints must be addressed on priority.
Murad Ali Shah emphasised that regular monitoring would be carried out, and performance reviews of responsible departments will be conducted to ensure accountability.
Residents of Scheme 33 have repeatedly complained about overflowing gutters and blocked drains, affecting roads, homes, and daily life.
The government’s response aims to restore basic sanitation and prevent any health-related issues due to poor drainage in one of Karachi’s rapidly growing residential zones.
