Pakistan has received 800 motorcycles from the Global Alliance for Vaccines for Immunization (GAVI) to help vaccinators reach remote areas and improve national immunization coverage across the country.

The donation was officially handed over by the World Health Organization (WHO), which confirmed that the motorcycles will be used under the Expanded Programme on Immunization.

The 800 motorcycles will be distributed across 65 districts in Pakistan. This is part of an effort to strengthen the outreach of vaccination services in underserved regions.

According to WHO, Sindh will receive 300 motorcycles, which will be used across 21 districts to improve access to immunization for vulnerable communities.

Punjab has been allocated 200 motorcycles for use in 10 of its districts. These motorbikes will help vaccinators travel to distant and difficult-to-reach areas.

In Balochistan, 108 motorcycles will be provided across 24 districts. This will significantly boost the province’s ability to deliver vaccines to scattered populations.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir will get 80 motorcycles for four districts, while 80 more have been allocated to the federal capital, Islamabad, for health teams working in various sectors.

Gilgit-Baltistan will receive 60 motorcycles for use in four districts. These areas are often inaccessible due to rough terrain and poor transport infrastructure. WHO stated that the new transport support will enable vaccinators to reach up to 32 million people in 65 districts, making vaccination efforts faster and more efficient.
