Apple has filed a lawsuit against well-known tech leaker Jon Prosser, accusing him of conspiring to access a development version of iOS 26 through a third party.
According to court documents, Apple claims Prosser enlisted Michael Ramacciotti to retrieve confidential data from an iPhone used by Apple engineer Ethan Lipnik. Ramacciotti allegedly tracked Lipnik’s movements, accessed his device while he was away, and shared a live video call with Prosser, who recorded it.
Apple says Prosser used the footage to produce videos and design mockups of iOS 26 features, offering Ramacciotti either payment or a future job in return.
The company discovered the breach in April 2025 through an anonymous tip. Evidence includes a voice memo in which Ramacciotti reportedly apologizes and names Prosser as the mastermind. While Lipnik was not accused of leaking data himself, he was fired for failing to secure the device.
Prosser published iOS 26 feature leaks on his YouTube channels, including Front Page Tech and the Genius Bar Podcast, months before the official reveal. These included previews of a redesigned Camera app, new Messages layout, and Apple’s “Liquid Glass” UI.
Prosser has denied wrongdoing, saying on X (formerly Twitter), “That is not how the situation played out on my end,” and claiming he didn’t know how the material was obtained.
Apple is seeking damages and a court order to prevent further disclosure of trade secrets.
