The Adiala Jail administration has issued a statement clarifying the conditions under which the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, is being held, stating that he is receiving all facilities allowed for ‘B-Class’ prisoners under the law.
According to officials, Khan has access to personalized meals, regular medical check-ups, reading materials, newspapers, and daily exercise. He is lodged in a two-cell unit with a private courtyard for walking and cycling. A prisoner has been assigned as his cook, preparing meals to his preference.
In addition to standard B-Class facilities, he enjoys access to LED lights and books of his choice privileges not available to other inmates in the same category.
Since his incarceration, Khan has issued 413 public messages through intermediaries, addressing political developments, including elections, protests, and constitutional matters. His statements have made headlines 45 times since August 2024.
He has remained in contact with at least 10 international media outlets including The Telegraph, Reuters, ITV, Wall Street Journal, and Fox News. During court proceedings held inside the jail, he has also engaged directly and extensively with journalists from mainstream Pakistani TV channels and newspapers. And regularly meets lawyers, party leaders, and assembly members. In the past three months, 66 individuals have visited him.
Medical staff check his vitals three times daily, and recent reports confirm he is in good health.
The jail administration dismissed rumors of mistreatment as false and politically motivated, stating that Khan is receiving better facilities than any other detainee at Adiala Jail, in full compliance with legal standards.
