Pakistan has entered a new era of passport printing with the launch of AI-powered machines that can print up to 300 passports per hour, according to Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Kazi.

In a recent update, He said that six advanced machines, purchased in March 2025, are now fully connected with NADRA’s database. This integration is expected to speed up passport processing and improve service at passport offices across the country.

“These machines will significantly reduce waiting times and improve service delivery,” He said, calling the move a big step forward in modernizing Pakistan’s passport system.

Another important change is the addition of the mother’s name on passports, which will help improve identification and bring Pakistan’s documents in line with international standards.

In a separate development, the federal government has taken strict action against Pakistanis deported from abroad for illegal activities. Their passports are being canceled, and criminal cases are being registered against them.

These actions follow complaints from several countries about Pakistani nationals involved in begging and illegal migration.

The government hopes these steps will improve documentation, security, and Pakistan’s image abroad.
