A formal case has been registered at the New Town Police Station after two trees were illegally cut down near the National Stadium Karachi during the weekend.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Horticulture Department submitted a written complaint to the police station, which has now prompted an investigation.
According to the KMC’s Deputy Director of Horticulture, the incident occurred on 9th and 10th Muharram, when unknown individuals illegally cut down two trees located on Sir Shah Suleman Road, directly in front of the National stadium wall.
The felled trees were reportedly left lying across the road, posing both safety and environmental concerns.
The complaint also highlighted a possible commercial motive behind the act. A large building with a digital advertising screen is located at the same spot, and the trees may have been obstructing the screen’s visibility, according to the application.

The Horticulture Department has termed the felling of the trees a serious violation of environmental norms and requested that CCTV footage from the area be reviewed. Cameras installed on Sir Shah Suleman Road may help identify the culprits, the complaint said.
Police confirmed they have registered a case against unidentified persons and have started a formal investigation. Authorities have assured that those involved will be held accountable following due legal process.
