The Pakistan women’s cricket team has been putting in rigorous training sessions at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore during the off-season, sharpening their skills and improving fitness ahead of a crucial schedule.
Their upcoming challenges include a three-match T20I series in Dublin against Ireland from August 6-10, followed by the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.
The core of the team – all-rounder Aliya Riaz (73 ODIs, 99 T20Is) and spin duo Nashra Sundhu (72 ODIs, 66 T20Is) and Sadia Iqbal (27 ODIs, 47 T20Is) – have been at the forefront of preparations. Aliya expressed the team’s determined mindset saying: “We’re working hard to play according to team requirements while meeting our fans’ expectations. Every match is an opportunity to represent Pakistan with pride.”
The recent rise of Sadia Iqbal to the top of T20I bowling rankings has created a wave of inspiration in the camp. “Seeing Sadia become world No.1 gives us tremendous belief,” Nashra revealed. “It proves we have bowlers who can compete with the world’s best, and this pushes all of us to raise our game.”
Sadia, who earned the top spot through consistent performances, shared her approach: “Handling new ball pressure requires composure. Working with coach Abdur Rehman and training alongside men’s players has really helped my development. I’m focused on maintaining this standard for the team.”
With rigorous preparation and strong team spirit driving them forward, the Pakistan women’s squad appears determined to translate their NCA training into on-field success during the upcoming tour and World Cup campaign. “We know the challenges ahead,” Aliya added, “but we’re ready to give our absolute best for Pakistan.”
