PDMA release rainfall data of Karachi districts

Karachi rainfall report

Several parts of Karachi received light rainfall on June 27, 2025, with Keamari recording the highest at 4.75 mm, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh’s report.

The rain data, collected from 8 AM on June 26 to 8 AM on June 27, shows light showers in a few areas of Karachi.

Karachi East recorded 2.25 mm of accumulative rainfall from 8 PM till 8 AM. Karachi South saw 9 mm of rain after 8 PM, while Keamari recorded 4.75mm of rain during the night as well.

The report, on the other hand, indicate no data of rainfall recorded from Karachi West, Karachi Central, Malir or Korangi.

According to PDMA report, Tharparkar district of Sindh has recorded the highest rainfall of 28 mm in 24 hours.

Tando Muhammad Khan followed Tharparkar with 16.67 mm, while Sanghar received 13.86 mm. Hyderabad city recorded 13.5 mm, Matiari received 5 mm, and Badin got 20.4 mm. Tando Allahyar also received 8.66 mm of rainfall.

In interior Sindh, Umerkot saw 12.25 mm, Kamber Shahdadkot received 6.8 mm, and Sujawal got 4.33 mm. Larkano city and Kashmore reported minor showers.

The rainfall brought a slight drop in temperature, however, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert about possible urban flooding in multiple cities due to rain, storms, and thunderstorms from June 26 to July 1.

According to NDMA, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit, and Skardu are among the major cities likely to be affected by changing weather patterns and intense downpours during this period.

There are strong warnings of urban flooding, especially in low-lying neighborhoods, where drainage systems may struggle to handle the heavy flow of rainwater during back-to-back thunderstorm activity.
