The first monsoon spell has begun in Karachi, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to several areas, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast issued earlier this week.
Citizens of Karachi witnessed intense thunderstorm activity on Thursday evening, with rain and wind hitting the region.
As per the latest satellite data, monsoon rain cells are shifting further south.
Areas like Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Malir, Safoora, Saadi Town, Surjani Town, Bahria town and Scheme 33 are currently receiving heavy rainfall.
The rain turned the weather pleasant and breezy, offering a break from Karachi’s humid heat. Temperatures dipped slightly as cloud cover and strong gusts swept across the city.
The PMD has warned that more showers with wind and thunder are expected across coastal areas in the next 24 to 48 hours.
