Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the Cove Beach Resort at Hawk’s Bay, marking Karachi’s first-ever beach resort built under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Speaking at the ceremony, the mayor said Karachi residents no longer need to travel abroad for luxury beach experiences.
“Our city now has its own world-class leisure spot,” he said.
The resort was completed in just six months and is now open to the public, offering modern facilities and scenic views.
Mayor Wahab called the project a milestone for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and said it reflects the city’s push to modernise public spaces.
He also announced a second resort is being planned, possibly in Ibrahim Hyderi or Malir, to give more citizens access to quality recreational spaces.
He listed other key initiatives, including:
- Cleaning 46 stormwater drains to prevent monsoon flooding
- Beautifying II Chundrigar Road, the city’s financial center
- Restoring historic sites like Denso Hall, Empress Market, and Frere Hall
- Developing a mangrove conservation park to raise environmental awareness
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, Parliamentary Leader Karamullah Waqasi, Deputy Leader Dil Muhammad, UC chairmen, and city officials.
