WhatsApp has launched fresh monetization tools inside its “Updates” tab, allowing creators and businesses to make money using WhatsApp through subscriptions, promotions, and ads.
These features are designed to boost visibility and earnings without affecting private chats, offering a major opportunity for income through the app.
Creators can now charge monthly fees for exclusive content on their Channels. Subscribers get special updates, while creators build steady income from loyal followers.

WhatsApp allows businesses and creators to promote their channels in the directory. This helps them gain more followers and increases engagement from potential customers or fans.
WhatsApp will begin placing ads in the Status section—similar to Instagram Stories. Brands can target viewers based on language, location, and app activity, linking directly to chats.
Despite monetization, WhatsApp reassures users that end-to-end encryption remains. No private messages or phone numbers will be shared with advertisers.
Businesses connected to Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram may benefit from cross-platform ad targeting. This improves ad performance and visibility across all apps.
