Pakistan’s T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha is among 74 male cricketers from the country who have registered for the Big Bash League (BBL) Season 15 Draft, as confirmed by Cricket Australia (CA).
Scheduled for June 19, the draft will also include 11 Pakistani women cricketers aiming to secure contracts in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), reflecting the growing influence of Pakistani talent in Australia’s flagship T20 competitions.
Meanwhile, star batter Babar Azam has already been locked in by the Sydney Sixers as one of the 15 marquee players pre-signed across both the men’s and women’s tournaments for the upcoming season.
Other prominent Pakistani players already registered for the BBL 15 Draft include fast bowling ace Shaheen Shah Afridi, dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, leg-spinner Shadab Khan, express pacer Haris Rauf, spinner Usama Mir, and speedster Mohammad Hasnain.
With over 600 overseas players in the mix, this year’s draft is set to be one of the most competitive in the league’s history.
The men’s draft features international representation from England (178 players), the West Indies (42), Sri Lanka (13), and even one entrant from India. On the women’s side, England (46), India (15), New Zealand (15), and Pakistan (11) dominate the draft pool.
