Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has directed the task force to intensify the operations against drug mafias in Karachi.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the minister reviewed the performance of the Task Force teams that were formed on June 4 to fight drug trafficking in Karachi.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including the IG Sindh and DIG West, who discussed strategy, cooperation, and accountability within the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign.
Lanjar stressed the importance of action against harmful substances like crystal, ice, heroin, and other narcotics, calling them a serious threat to the youth of the province.
He said the police must take strong, systematic action against large-scale drug dealers and mafias operating across different parts of the city.
The Home Minister pledged to personally review the task force’s performance every month and warned that poor-performing officers would first be warned and then removed.
He further stated that a similar meeting will soon be held in Hyderabad and Sukkur to evaluate the anti-narcotics situation in other major districts of Sindh.
Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon added that area officers hold the primary responsibility to stop drug crimes and must prove their performance through action.
Memon urged the police to continue this war with consistency and determination, and said the task force must demonstrate visible results in coming weeks.
DIG West and Task Force Head Irfan Baloch confirmed that operations have already begun and action is being taken against major drug dealers in Karachi’s high-risk zones.
