Sindh relaxes vehicle ownership rules for two months

seller's identity card

The Excise and Taxation Department of Sindh has announced a two-month relaxation in the biometric condition for changing ownership of vehicles registered across the province.

According to a recent notification, citizens can now transfer vehicle ownership using only the seller’s identity card without requiring their biometric verification until August 14, 2025.

This step aims to facilitate the public by easing the process of vehicle ownership transfer, especially for those facing difficulties with the biometric requirement.

Excise officials in Karachi confirmed that this temporary relaxation will apply to all vehicles registered across Sindh, providing relief to thousands of vehicle buyers and sellers.

Previously, biometric verification of the seller was mandatory to change vehicle ownership, often leading to delays due to unavailability or absence of the original owner.

Officials said the move was made keeping in view public convenience and to reduce backlog and pressure at excise offices.
