Karachi imposes sec 144, ban to visit beaches this Eid ul Adha

Ban on visiting Karachi beaches

A complete ban on visiting Karachi beaches under Section 144 has been imposed for eight days due to high tides and dangerous sea conditions.

Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, announced the enforcement after a request by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) citing rising drowning incidents and dangerous waves during the monsoon season.

According to the KMC letter, rough tides and unstable weather patterns at these beaches make swimming, bathing, and diving extremely dangerous, especially for untrained visitors and families.

The order prohibits all forms of water activity, including swimming, diving, wading, and even visiting the beaches, in the interest of saving lives and preventing drownings.

The decision will remain in effect from June 6 to June 13, 2025, covering beaches at KANNUP, Sunerah, Mubarak Village, Turtle Beach, and Dua Chowk.

Commissioner Naqvi emphasized that this ban is a preventive step to avoid casualties, and citizens must cooperate with the law enforcement authorities for their own safety and protection during this period.

The SHOs of concerned police stations have been empowered under Section 195 (i)(a) to register complaints against violators under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Officials confirmed the ban is temporary but may be extended if hazardous sea conditions persist or if there are further risks posed by the turbulent tides in the coming days.

Citizens are urged to strictly avoid the banned areas and follow safety advisories issued by the authorities during the monsoon season when sea conditions become highly unpredictable.
