In a move to enhance user experience and transparency, TikTok has introduced new tools that allow users to take greater control of their For You Feed (FYF).
These features aim to empower users by helping them explore interests, manage content visibility, and better understand recommendation mechanics.
The new “Manage Topics” feature lets users adjust how often videos from over ten categories – such as Creative Arts, Travel, Nature, and Sports – appear in their feed.
While the platform won’t remove categories entirely, it gives users the power to fine-tune content based on evolving preferences.
TikTok is also rolling out Smart Keyword Filters, an AI-powered tool that expands filtering capabilities. By automatically including related terms and synonyms, the feature enhances precision.
The company will soon raise the filter limit from 100 to 200 keywords and introduce bulk-editing tools.
To further enhance transparency, TikTok is publishing an educational guide that explains how the FYF works and how users can manage their settings.
A TikTok spokesperson said these upgrades are designed to ensure a safer, personalized experience. Both teens and adults will benefit from enhanced safeguards, such as stricter content eligibility standards and Content Levels to reduce exposure to mature or repetitive material.
The FYF has been instrumental in launching Pakistani creators like Adeel Chaudhary, Humna Zahid (Samosiiii), Zakia Noor (Doctor Zakk), and Momin Saqib into the spotlight, helping them reach larger audiences.
