Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has ordered a large-scale crackdown on adulterated food, harmful tea, and street beggars across the city before Eid ul Adha.
In a high-level meeting, the commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners to launch strict action against tea houses selling intoxicating or fake tea, especially in underprivileged and high-footfall areas.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Karachi, Deputy Commissioners from all districts, officials of the Sindh Food Authority, and the Price Control Committee to finalize pre-Eid operations.
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi expressed deep concern over the rising sale of adulterated milk and harmful food items, calling it a serious threat to public health and safety.
He directed Sindh Food Authority and district officials to seal any outlet selling substandard products and to ensure no compromise is made on food safety laws during the festive season.

Special operations will be launched at tea stalls, dairy shops, and bakeries in densely populated areas. Units found selling fake or chemically treated tea will be punished immediately.
Officials were specifically told to target tea houses mixing sedatives or cheap chemicals in beverages and milk sellers involved in whitewashing milk with harmful powders and substances.
Naqvi also ordered a complete cleanup of street beggars from Karachi roads, particularly near malls, markets, and signals, to maintain order and prevent disturbances during Eid shopping.
Deputy Commissioners were asked to remove beggars starting two days before Eid. Teams have been assigned zones to identify and shift beggars to welfare centers or shelters if needed.
Chairman Sindh Food Authority Asif Jan Siddiqui has been told to start full inspections of milk, tea, bakery goods, and general food stalls in coordination with the district teams.
The commissioner warned that legal action will be taken against all violators and repeat offenders. Public health, he said, is the government’s top priority during this festive period.
