The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially extended the deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise Duty (FED) returns for April 2025.
According to the FBR’s announcement, the last date to submit April’s Sales Tax and FED returns, originally due on May 18, 2025, is now extended to June 5, 2025.

The FBR exercised powers under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, to allow this extension. The notification has been shared with all field formations.
However, FBR clarified that the extension is only valid if the sales tax liability was deposited by the original due date. This condition must be met for the return to be accepted.
The extension is expected to help businesses and tax filers meet compliance requirements more comfortably, especially those facing documentation or submission delays for April’s tax period.
