MIT, Sahir Associates to Battle for Rs 5mln in President’s Trophy Final

MIT Solutions and Sahir Associates are set to clash in the final of the President’s Trophy Grade-II at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium from May 29 to June 1, marking the conclusion of the 2024-25 domestic season. The tournament winner will also earn a spot in the departmental first-class tournament, the President’s Trophy Grade-I for the 2025-26 season.    

Both teams have played eight three-day matches each and will compete for a prize of PKR 5 million for the winner, while the runners-up will receive PKR 2.5 million. From a total prize pool of PKR 7.75 million, there will also be awards for outstanding individual performances.    

In the group stage, Sahir Associates topped Group D with four victories, while two of their matches ended in draws. Their quarter-final and semi-final matches against Ghani Institute and JDW Sugar Mills, respectively, were also drawn, but they advanced to the next stage based on their first innings lead in both games.    

Sahir Associates’ wicketkeeper-batter Asim Ali Nasir ranks second on the leading run-scorer list with 735 runs in 12 innings, just six runs behind PAF’s Atteq-ur-Rehman, who leads the chart. Asim has also made 23 dismissals behind the stumps.    

On the bowling side, left-arm pacers Mohammad Bilawal and Shahid Ali have significantly contributed to Sahir Associates’ success, taking 31 and 22 wickets, respectively.    

MIT Solutions, who finished second in Group C with three wins, one loss, and two draws from six matches, also took the first innings lead in their drawn quarter-final and semi-final matches against Kingsmen and Wing 999, respectively.    

The batting pair of Muhammad Afzal (491 runs) and Husnain Nadeem (483 runs) has been instrumental for MIT Solutions. Among the bowlers, Shahab Khan has claimed 23 wickets, while Raza Ullah has taken 21 scalps.
