Aleem Khan, Murad review progress on Sindh’s road projects

Sindh’ road projects

Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan met with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to review progress on the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway (M-6) and other key infrastructure projects in the province.

The meeting, attended by the Federal Secretary for Communications, Chairman NHA, and senior officials, focused on expediting the Karachi to Lahore-Peshawar motorway connectivity, which remains incomplete without linking the Karachi Port.

CM Murad stressed the strategic importance of M-6, stating, “Scores of motorways have been completed, but M-6 is still pending.” He proposed bridge financing of Rs 40 to 50 billion from the provincial government to avoid delays in the public-private partnership model.

Minister Aleem Khan confirmed that the M-6 project has been split into five sections, with funding finalized for three and work ongoing on the rest. He also agreed that the motorway’s purpose will remain unfulfilled unless Karachi is fully connected.

M-10 Motorway Project

Discussions included a new M-10 motorway plan, linking Karachi’s ICI Bridge and KPT via Hub Chowki to Hyderabad, to streamline heavy and port traffic directly onto the highway network. Planning for the route will be completely restructured to support future demand.

Lyari Expressway, Jamshoro-Sehwan Road

The Lyari Expressway was declared unfit for heavy traffic in a recent audit. CM Murad urged for improved interchanges and proposed a service road near Sohrab Goth to separate local and port traffic.

The CM also requested early completion of the Jamshoro-Sehwan road, noting 66 km has already been completed. Minister Khan assured that work has started and will be monitored for timely delivery.
