waste management plan Karachi

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced that seven trenches are being dug across the city for the burial of animal waste during Eid-ul-Adha, along with the setup of around 100 collection points in all seven districts of the city.

The announcement came during a meeting held at the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) office to finalize Eid-ul-Adha sanitation arrangements.

The Mayor stated that the operation will be conducted in coordination with Town Chairmen to ensure timely waste removal and public cleanliness.

Over 8,000 sanitary workers will be deployed, and special bags for offal collection will also be distributed. In addition to offal, “bhalu mitti” (soft soil) will be collected and stored at Garbage Transfer Stations (GTS) and offered free to parks and green belts.

The trenches will be located at Jam Chakro, Gond Pass, and Sharafi Goth, where animal waste will be safely buried. The operation includes lime sprinkling and insecticide spraying at collection points and neighborhoods after cleanup.

MD SSWMB Tariq Ali Nizamani provided a detailed briefing, while Town Chairmen shared local issues and promised full cooperation.

Mayor Wahab stressed the need for excellent performance, saying the public expects visible results and the city must remain clean during the five-day of Eidul Adha.
