Govt bans ajrak, Sindhi topi, kids welcoming guests at school events

Sindh bans Ajrak Topi

The Government of Sindh has officially banned the practice of presenting Ajrak, Sindhi Topi, or any other gifts during official events, meetings, and ceremonies across educational institutions.

According to an official notification issued by the Sindh Education Department, all Directors, DEOs, TEOs, Headmasters, Headmistresses, and Principals are instructed to cease these practices immediately.

The notification also prohibits the tradition of children welcoming guests and officers, especially in outdoor settings.

The move comes after Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah expressed outrage at a recent school function, where children were seen standing in harsh sunlight to welcome him.

In his speech, he strongly criticized the act and called for an end to such practices, including gifting Ajrak and Sindhi Topi.

The government has directed strict compliance, emphasizing that the instructions be followed in letter and spirit without exception.
