Pakistan’s famous javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has been declared Asia’s Athlete of the Year 2024 by the Asian Athletics Federation.

The announcement was made at the Federation’s annual meeting held in South Korea, where Arshad received a special award recognizing his remarkable achievements over the past year.

Arshad’s success has brought great pride to Pakistan and placed the country firmly on the global athletics map.

Last year, he won the gold medal in the Olympic javelin throw event and made the longest throw ever recorded in Olympic history. His achievements have been celebrated not only by sports fans but also by the general public and government officials across Pakistan.

During the Paris Olympics, Arshad made history by throwing the javelin 92.97 meters, earning Pakistan its first Olympic gold medal in 40 years.

The competition was tough, and Arshad’s first attempt was ruled a foul. However, he quickly recovered and delivered outstanding throws in the following rounds. In the third round, he threw 88.72 meters, narrowly beating his main rival from the Czech Republic, Jakub Vedlij, who threw 88.50 meters.

Arshad’s fifth throw was 84.87 meters, and in his final attempt, he achieved a remarkable 91.79 meters, which is the second-best throw ever recorded in Olympic history.

The Asian Athletics Federation praised Arshad for his dedication, skill, and sportsmanship.
