Low turnout in PSL raises concerns over fan interest

PSL crowd attendance

After Lahore Qalandars’ match against Karachi Kings in Eliminator 1, the Gaddafi stadium once again saw a low turnout during Eliminator 2 between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United.

Despite being the host city, Lahore’s stadium saw empty seats, raising concerns about fan interest in the game.

Earlier, Karachi was often criticized on social media for poor match attendance, but now similar scenes are visible in Lahore.

Fans are not turning up to the stadiums as they did earlier in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

This shift suggests that people may be losing interest in live matches or facing ticketing and scheduling issues. Once known for passionate support, Lahore’s crowd response has surprised cricket watchers.

The final match, to be held on Sunday between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United, is also expected to see a low turnout.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may need to review its planning and fan engagement strategies to bring back the energy that once defined PSL.
