Conquerors, Stars to compete for Rs1.5mln prize in T20 final

Fatima Sana’s Conquerors are set to face Sidra Amin’s Stars in the final of the National Women’s T20 Tournament at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Saturday. The first ball of the T20 match will be bowled at 3 PM, with the toss taking place at 2:30 PM local time.

The highly anticipated encounter will be live-streamed on Tapmad in Pakistan and on the PCB Official YouTube channel for viewers outside Pakistan. Additionally, the match will be broadcast live on Geo Super. The tournament winner will not only take home the trophy but will also receive PKR 1.5 million, while the runners-up will be awarded PKR 1 million.

The Conquerors have the opportunity to complete a double in domestic women’s events, as they are also the reigning champions of the National Women’s One-Day Tournament, which concluded in December 2024.

Individual awards will be presented to players for outstanding performances throughout the 22-match tournament, which began on May 7.

The Conquerors topped the points table with five wins from eight matches, qualifying directly for the final due to a superior net run-rate compared to the Challengers and Stars.

Skipper Fatima Sana is leading the batting charts with 339 runs from seven innings, including two half-centuries, and has scored at a strike rate of 163.77. In the bowling department, Fatima has claimed 10 wickets from eight matches at an economy rate of 7.08, supported by Syeda Aroob Shah, who has also taken 10 wickets with her leg-spin bowling, achieving best figures of three for 24.

Fatima Sana commented, “Our team has done well in the tournament, and we are focused on producing a strong performance in the final against the Stars. Our batters and bowlers have delivered consistently, and I expect similar performances from the team in the final. The Stars team has done well; they had a good Qualifier against the Challengers, and we expect an exciting game of cricket tomorrow.”

The Stars, like the Conquerors, finished the group stage with 10 points but had to compete in a Qualifier against Rameen Shamim’s Challengers due to a lower net run-rate. They narrowly edged past the Challengers by six runs to secure their place in Saturday’s final.

Sidra Amin, the Stars’ captain, has also been prolific with the bat, scoring 328 runs from nine innings, including four half-centuries, at an average of 46.86 and a strike rate of 129.64. In the bowling department, spinners have excelled for the Stars, with Tuba Hassan and Anosha Nasir each taking 12 wickets from nine matches. Tuba has bowled at an economy rate of 5.77, while Anosha has maintained an economy rate of 6.09. Waheeda Akhtar has also contributed with 10 wickets at an economy of 5.07.

Sidra Amin stated, “Our team consists of young players who have shown great resilience throughout the tournament. Our spinners have played a pivotal role in helping us reach the final. We have beaten the Conquerors twice in the group stage, and we will look to carry that momentum into tomorrow’s big game as well.”
