The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported on May 23 that a low-pressure system over the East-Central Arabian Sea had grown stronger and could intensify into a Depression within the next 24 hours.
According to the latest satellite image, issued by PMD, the system is currently located at latitude 17.7 N and longitude 72.5 E, around 985 km southeast of Karachi.
PMD officials stated that favorable weather conditions may help the system gain more strength as it moves northward.

“Right now, there is no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas, but the situation is being closely monitored by the Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi,” the statement reads.
PMD further added that the latest updates will be shared with the authorities if anything changes.
Such weather systems can bring strong winds and heavy rain if they reach coastal regions, but officials have assured the public that there is no immediate danger.
