A heatwave alert remains in effect across upper and central Sindh, including Karachi, where temperatures are expected to stay 4-6°C above normal until May 24, officials warned on Thursday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has urged the public, especially children, women, and elderly people, to take precautionary measures, such as avoiding the sun during the day and drinking plenty of water.
According to the 3-day forecast, Karachi will experience hot and humid weather through Saturday [May 24].
On Thursday and Friday [May 22-23], maximum temperatures will reach 35-37°C, while Saturday [May 24] could see a rise to 36-38°C.
Humidity levels in the morning will remain between 65 percent and 75 percent, while evening humidity will stay around 50 percent – 60 percent. Winds will blow from the west and southwest, offering slight relief during the day.
The Met Office also warned that heat-related illnesses could increase, and people are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak hours and stay in cool, shaded areas.
