Lahore Qalandars have signed Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the rest of the Pakistan Super League Season 10 (PSL X).
The veteran cricketer is expected to join the team on May 17 in Islamabad.
Shakib replaces Daryl Mitchell, who was ruled out due to a hand injury.
Mitchell suffered the injury during his final over in a rain-hit match against Karachi Kings on May 4, played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
He was hit on the left hand in the 14.2 over, forcing him to withdraw from the tournament.
Speaking about his return to PSL, Shakib Al Hasan shared his excitement. “I’m thrilled to join Lahore Qalandars for the ongoing PSL season. We’re at a pivotal stage of the competition where every match is crucial. It’s a tournament I’ve always enjoyed watching, and now I’m eager to contribute on the field,” he said.
He praised Qalandars’ fans and team culture, adding, “The Qalandars have passionate fans and a strong team spirit. I’m looking forward to being part of the group as we strive for a strong finish.”
Sameen Rana, the Team Director of Lahore Qalandars, welcomed Shakib with confidence.
“I’m delighted to welcome Shakib to the Lahore Qalandars family. His experience, skill, and all-round capabilities make him a significant addition, especially at this critical stage of the tournament,” he said.
Rana added that Shakib’s presence will not only strengthen the squad but also help mentor young talent in the team.
With the competition reaching its peak, Shakib’s arrival is seen as a major boost for Lahore Qalandars, who are aiming for a strong comeback in the remaining fixtures of the season.
