Death toll rises to 13 as two more soldiers martyred in India’s cross-border strikes

Pakistani soldiers martyred

Two more Pakistani soldiers have embraced martyrdom after succumbing to injuries sustained during India’s cross-border strikes on the night of May 6 and 7, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

ISPR stated that the martyrs – Havaldar Muhammad Naveed of the Pakistan Army and Senior Technician Muhammad Ayaz of the Pakistan Air Force – were undergoing treatment but succumbed to their injuries.

Their sacrifice brings the total number of Pakistani martyrs to 13, while 78 personnel have been injured during the ongoing escalation.

“These valiant sons of the soil stood firm in defence of the motherland with unwavering resolve and patriotism,” said the military’s media wing. ISPR paid tribute to the fallen heroes and extended heartfelt condolences to their grieving families. “Their noble sacrifice will remain etched in our national memory and will inspire generations to come.”

In response to India’s “cowardly” strikes, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (Iron Wall), a large-scale retaliatory military campaign.

According to ISPR, the operation was “precise and proportionate”, targeting Indian military sites across multiple regions.

The conflict, triggered by Indian aggression following the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), resulted in heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC).

After nearly 87 hours of armed exchanges, both sides agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, brokered by the United States.
