The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is actively monitoring the situation regarding its players participating in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, particularly in light of recent security concerns.
The BCB has not yet made a final decision regarding its scheduled five-match T20I series against Pakistan, which is set to begin on May 25.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the BCB confirmed that it is in close coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to ensure the safety of its players currently involved in the tournament. The two Bangladeshi players participating in the PSL are leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who plays for Lahore Qalandars, and fast bowler Nahid Rana, representing Peshawar Zalmi.
The BCB emphasized its commitment to player safety, stating, “The BCB is in active coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to ensure that all necessary measures are in place to guarantee the security of our players.”
BCB President Faruque Ahmed spoke to a local sports outlet, indicating that the board is taking a cautious approach and will assess the situation over the next few days before making a final decision regarding the T20I series. “We are really working on the current situation (as far as going to Pakistan for the T20I series) and it can wait for another three to four days,” he said. “Let’s see how it progresses, but at the moment our main concern is regarding the two players (Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain) who are currently in Pakistan playing in the PSL,” he added.
In the meantime, the BCB has announced a 16-member squad for its upcoming T20I tours of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan, reflecting its ongoing commitment to international cricket while prioritizing player safety.
