Pakistan bans entry of Indian ships into its ports

In a significant escalation following the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan has officially banned Indian-flagged cargo vessels from entering its ports, as confirmed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.

According to the notification, the ministry banned Indian-flagged cargo vessels from entering its ports, stating that no Pakistani-flagged ships will be allowed at Indian ports either.

The decision follows India’s unverified accusations that Pakistan was behind the deadly assault in Pahalgam, IIOJK, which killed 26 individuals – mostly tourists.

Pakistan has strongly rejected the accusations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. India, meanwhile, has taken a series of retaliatory measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960, closing the Attari and Wagah borders, and cancelling SAARC visa exemptions for Pakistani nationals.

Additionally, India has withdrawn its defense attachés from Islamabad, signaling a deepening diplomatic rift. In response, Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian flights and warned of a decisive retaliation to any tampering with its water rights under the Indus Waters Treaty.

A statement from Pakistani authorities reads, “Any attempt to stop or divert the flow of water belonging to Pakistan… will be considered an Act of War and responded with full force.”
