A protest against the controversial canals project turned violent on Karachi’s National Highway, leaving several police officers injured as protesters set a police van on fire.
Lawyers and nationalist party workers blocked the Malir Link Road, prompting a heavy police deployment to the area. Authorities also brought a water cannon to control the intensifying situation.

Amid the growing chaos, police officers were seen retreating from the scene, leaving behind a police mobile. The abandoned vehicle was soon surrounded and vandalized by the protesters.
Protesters eventually set the police van ablaze, signaling the extreme level of unrest and frustration among those opposing the canal project.
