Intermediate exams postponed in Karachi, new dates announced

intermediate exams delayed Karachi

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has postponed the intermediate exams 2025, confirming that intermediate exams in Karachi have been delayed due to administrative issues.

The intermediate exams, which were originally scheduled to start on April 28, have been postponed and will now commence on May 5, 2025, as per the BIEK official statement.

BIEK cited two main reasons for the delay: the ongoing awarding of grace marks to first-year students of 2024 and the unavailability of exam centres across Karachi.

Officials explained that several centres remain occupied for matriculation exams, which started on April 8 and are scheduled to continue until May 8.

The board emphasized that postponing the intermediate exams would ensure a smooth process and provide sufficient space for all participating students.

BIEK reassured students and parents that a revised timetable will be released soon and urged everyone to continue preparing according to the new schedule.

It is worth noting here that the Sindh Assembly’s parliamentary committee decided to award grace marks to first-year students who failed their 2024 intermediate annual exams.

The decision followed a fact-finding committee report led by Dr. Sarosh Lodi, which highlighted flaws in the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi’s procedures.

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah said there was clear injustice toward students, many of whom had scored well in their matriculation exams.
