Karachi’s National Stadium to enter phase 2 renovation after PSL X

National Stadium Karachi

The second phase of renovation work at the National Bank Stadium is expected to begin soon as Karachi hosts the last match of Pakistan Super League season 10 (PSL X).

According to early reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will start with a full re-profiling of the stands and major structural improvements, followed by a large-scale redevelopment project.

This revamp aims to modernise the venue and enhance the fan experience.

Recent PSL matches saw low attendance at the stadium, with many blaming it largely on outdated infrastructure and facilities.

PCB and stadium authorities want to turn the venue into a welcoming, accessible site for domestic and international cricket fixtures by improving comfort and accessibility.

Planned changes include redesigned seating with better sightlines, more legroom, and increased comfort. Modern aesthetics will also refresh the look of the historic stadium.

Entry and exit routes will be revamped to improve crowd movement, safety, and ease of access. These changes aim to reduce match-day traffic chaos.

Parking solutions are also part of the plan, with new designated zones to resolve long-standing complaints about congestion during big matches in the city.

Though no final timeline has been shared, media reports suggested that the second-phase work will begin without delay as soon as PSL concludes this season.

With these upgrades, stakeholders hope to offer spectators a world-class stadium experience while keeping Karachi relevant on the global cricketing map.
