Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved Rs1 billion for the construction of an underpass near Korangi Causeway Bridge.
This decision was taken during a high-level meeting at CM House focused on key infrastructure projects including Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Sohrab Goth’s traffic overhaul.
The underpass aims to ease traffic flowing from Korangi Causeway and CBM Road, with improvements to roadway geometry to handle multi-directional flow.
CM Murad also approved a centralised roundabout design at the location, instructing that adjustments be made on-site for practical implementation.
The meeting was attended by senior ministers including Sharjeel Inam Memon, Saeed Ghani, Nasir Shah, Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and other top officials.
A presentation by Minister Saeed Ghani revealed the Korangi Causeway project’s total cost at Rs9.3 billion, which includes bridge loops and road works.
He added that the project includes development at the 3000 Korangi Intersection to enhance road capacity and streamline movement.
Murad Ali Shah also approved a flyover near Sammo Goth on Shahrah-e-Bhutto, granting technical clearance to initiate road connectivity work.
He directed the Planning & Development (P&D) Department to finalise all approvals within a week and immediately begin construction.
To resolve traffic congestion at Sohrab Goth, the CM ordered a remodelling plan that integrates Lyari Expressway, Gulshan Chowrangi, and adjoining areas.
He instructed officials to improve access roads linking Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulshan-e-Mayor, and other neighborhoods to ensure smooth traffic distribution.
Murad emphasized coordination between the Local Government and P&D departments for design structuring and submission of a detailed development plan.
