In a sweeping operation against unfit vehicles, Sindh police have seized hundreds of vehicles across Karachi, as part of a province-wide crackdown initiated by the Sindh government.
According to officials, 382 motorcycles and 36 heavy and light transport vehicles (HTVs and LTVs) were taken into custody for various violations.
Among the seized vehicles were 12 water tankers, 5 oil tankers, 8 trucks, 3 dumpers, 2 minibuses, 2 mini trucks, 1 Mazda, and 1 passenger bus.
Sindh’s Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, confirmed the crackdown is part of a coordinated effort to enforce traffic laws and improve road safety.
“The purpose of this operation is to protect lives, maintain road discipline, and take strict action against those who break the law,” Memon said in a statement.

He noted that motorcycles without helmets were impounded on the spot, and the campaign targets both outdated and high-end luxury vehicles that fail to comply with legal requirements.
Operations began on April 8 and are being expanded gradually across different zones of the city. Memon reiterated that no individual is above the law and urged citizens to comply with traffic regulations.
He advised the public to wear helmets, carry complete documentation, and ensure their vehicles are equipped with valid fitness certificates and route permits to avoid penalties or impoundment.
The operation is expected to continue in the coming days with increased monitoring and on-ground enforcement by traffic police and law enforcement units.
Officials say this initiative will serve as a deterrent and help build a culture of compliance and safety on Karachi’s roads.
