The President of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) called it a milestone as 1,061 Pakistani doctors got US residency this year.
He congratulated the successful doctors, stating that their achievement shows the high standard of medical education being maintained across Pakistan’s institutions today.
Dr. Taj credited this success to PMDC’s strong curriculum, rigorous training programs, and a strict system of checks and balances nationwide.
He explained that the US residency application process is extremely competitive, demanding excellent academic performance and passing the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
Applicants also undergo interviews and detailed document reviews, which only the most dedicated and skilled candidates manage to successfully complete.
Dr. Taj stressed that this accomplishment proves Pakistani doctors can compete at a global level and provide high-quality health services worldwide.

This achievement, Dr. Taj said, supports PMDC’s vision to prepare future health professionals according to international medical standards and best practices.
He further highlighted PMDC’s recent recognition by the World Federation for Medical Education, helping Pakistan align with global medical benchmarks.
According to Dr. Taj, the focus is now on building a health workforce that excels locally while also being respected internationally.
He expressed hope that Pakistani graduates will continue to perform well abroad and return with skills that strengthen the national healthcare system.
Dr. Taj said PMDC remains committed to empowering doctors with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed at home and abroad.
