The government of Punjab has requested the deployment of Army and Rangers personnel for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 matches in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, citing the need for enhanced security measures during the high-profile tournament.
According to media reports, the Punjab Home Department has formally sent a request to the Federal Ministry of Interior, seeking additional support to assist the local police forces.
The plan includes the deployment of one wing of Rangers and two companies of the Pakistan Army in each of the three cities hosting the matches.
The request highlights that international cricketers, foreign officials, and domestic players are participating in the event, making it a sensitive and high-security occasion.

Authorities aim to ensure the safety of all participants, including teams, match officials, and support staff throughout their stay and travel within the host cities.
Home Department stressed the importance of foolproof security not only at the stadiums but also at hotels and transit routes.
Special arrangements will be made to safeguard players and officials during matches, as well as during their movements between venues and accommodations.
The deployment of the Army and Rangers is seen as a proactive step to maintain law and order and avoid any potential security threats that could disrupt the PSL.
