Fawad Khan faces backlash from India over his Bollywood return

Fawad Khan Bollywood return

Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan and Indian actress Vaani Kapoor’s upcoming film Abir Gulaal is facing backlash in India ahead of its release in India.

The film’s teaser, released yesterday, created a buzz among fans, but political parties and film associations have opposed its screening due to the involvement of Pakistani artist.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has strongly objected to the film’s release in Maharashtra.

MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar stated that his party would not allow the screening of any film featuring a Pakistani actor. “We only learned about this film today. We will not permit its release in Maharashtra. A full statement will be issued soon,” he told Dainik Bhaskar.

Similarly, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam dismissed the relevance of Pakistani artists in India. He claimed that Pakistani films and actors fail to attract Indian audiences.

“People may watch one or two films out of curiosity, but they do not become popular. Pakistani artists have never been able to succeed in India,” he said.

Nirupam further suggested that Pakistani actors should focus on their own country’s industry instead of seeking work in India.

The controversy surrounding the yet-to-be-released film Abir Gulaal has reignited the long-standing debate over Pakistani artists working in Bollywood.
