A massive fire near an oil refinery in Korangi has been raging for over 12 hours, as rescue teams struggle to bring it under control.
The fire erupted early Saturday morning at a site 1,800 feet below ground, during deep excavation for groundwater drilling in the Korangi Creek area, according to police.
Authorities have deployed seven fire brigade vehicles, but the flames continue to spread.
No casualties have been reported, and workers along with nearby residents have been evacuated as a precaution.

The Edhi Foundation has sent ambulances and volunteers to the site, while Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) teams are assisting in the emergency response.
Senior police officials, including SSP Tariq Nawaz, are present at the scene. With the fire’s intensity increasing, additional police units from nearby stations have been called in.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori has urged Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi to take immediate action, including deploying helicopters if needed.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.
