As Eid ul Fitr 2025 is just around the corner, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted hot and dry weather across the country during the holidays.
According to the forecast, temperatures are expected to range between 36°C and 38°C on Eid days, with northwestern winds blowing during morning hours. By April 4, the temperature may rise further, reaching 39°C.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal highlighted concerns about rising heat levels in the coming months, particularly in urban areas. The urban heat island effect is expected to worsen heatwave conditions, increasing the risk of drought.
He added that most parts of Pakistan will see temperatures 2°C to 3°C above normal, while Karachi may experience an even more intense heatwave, with temperatures climbing 3°C to 4°C above usual levels, making conditions uncomfortable for the citizens.
Citizens are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary precautions to cope with the hot weather during Eid holidays.
Earlier to this, the PMD predicted that the maximum temperature in the city is expected to range between 34 to 36 degrees Celsius during the Eid holidays.
Currently, Karachi’s temperature stands between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, with sea breezes at 6 km/h and humidity at 68 percent.
From Friday, a further temperature increase is expected, reaching 37 to 38 degrees Celsius, with hot and dry winds blowing from the northwest.
However, sea breezes are likely to resume in the evening, bringing some relief.
A gradual temperature decrease is anticipated from March 25, but Eid days will still be warm.
