Pakistan: Eid-ul-Fitr likely to be observed on March 31

Pakistan Eid-ul-Fitr

The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has predicted a strong possibility of Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan on March 31, as the new moon is expected to be born on March 29.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and zonal committees will meet on Sunday, March 30, 2025 (Ramazan 29, 1446 A.H.), to sight the Shawwal moon and confirm the date for Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan.

Experts stated that the moon is unlikely to be visible in Saudi Arabia on March 29, which could align Eid celebrations in both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on the same day this year.

The moon is expected to be visible to the human eye in many parts of the world on March 30, especially when the weather is clear.

According to experts, the moon’s age in Mecca on March 30 will be 28 hours and 38 minutes, while in Karachi, it will be 26 hours and 50 minutes, making sighting possible.

However, the final decision will be based on testimonies, as unaided-eye moon sightings remain a religious requirement in Pakistan.
