The federal government has officially announced the three days public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.
The Cabinet Division has issued a notification confirming the holidays from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2.
However, the provinces have yet to announce their respective Eid holiday schedules.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with its zonal committees, will convene on Sunday evening, March 30, 2025 (corresponding to Ramazan 29, 1446 AH), to observe the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which will signify the possible end of Ramadan.
The committee’s meeting will take place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
During the session, religious scholars, meteorological experts, and other relevant stakeholders will review moon sighting reports from across the country to determine the official date for Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan.
The start of the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the dates for Eid and Muharram, is traditionally determined by the sighting of the new moon.
