PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that President Asif Ali Zardari gave a positive warning to the government regarding its one-sided policies on the construction of new canals.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Bilawal said that the federation is under strain due to the unilateral decision on the Indus River canals. He stressed the need for a unanimous solution to address concerns, particularly in Sindh, over the allocation of water resources.
Bilawal revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was informed about the PPP’s reservations on the issue during an Iftar dinner. He expressed hope that dialogue with the government would continue to resolve the matter.
Rejecting claims that the PPP has remained silent, Bilawal emphasized that his party has always raised its voice on water distribution issues.
He also pointed out that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Council of Common Interest (CCI), yet no session has been held for over a year to address these concerns.
