Malaria and dengue cases are on the rise across Sindh, with Karachi experiencing a significant increase, according to the Sindh Health Department.
From January to March 7, 2025, a total of 5,437 malaria cases were reported across the province, with 117 cases detected in Karachi.
The highest number of cases in the city was recorded in the South District (40 cases), followed by Malir (39 cases), Korangi (14 cases), East (4 cases), Central (2 cases), and West (1 case). So far, no malaria cases have been reported from Keamari District.
Other divisions in Sindh also reported a large number of cases.
Hyderabad Division recorded 2,325 cases, followed by Larkana (1,294 cases), Sukkur (488 cases), Mirpurkhas (618 cases), and Shaheed Benazirabad (595 cases).
Dengue cases have also seen an upward trend in 2025, with 148 cases reported across Sindh, of which 132 cases were from Karachi alone. In March, 10 new dengue cases were recorded in the city.
Health officials have urged citizens to take preventive measures to curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. These include mosquito control efforts, timely medical diagnosis, and increased public awareness to reduce infection risks.
