Karachi fatal road accident 2025

Road accidents in Karachi have claimed 171 lives in 2025, with heavy vehicles like dumpers continuing to be a major cause of fatalities.

Rescue officials revealed that, alongside the deaths, over 2,200 people sustained injuries in various traffic accidents across the city.

Earlier to this a tragic incident in Baldia Town saw a dumper run over three brothers riding a motorcycle, killing one and injuring two others. In another case, a motorcyclist was critically injured after being hit by a tanker near Korangi Singer Chowrangi.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for stricter road safety measures. Authorities have been urged to implement effective regulations to control reckless driving and ensure safer roads for commuters.

To curb such accidents, the Karachi Traffic Police has decided to install cameras and trackers in dumpers to monitor speed and issue challans for violations.

DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah stated that digital monitoring would help prevent accidents and, if successful, would be extended to other heavy vehicles.

Additionally, the traffic department has made it mandatory for dumpers to install front and rear cameras to determine responsibility in case of accidents.
