Five Karachi citizens killed over robbery resistance in Ramadan 2025

At least five citizens have been killed in robbery-related incidents in Karachi during the first five days of Ramadan 2025, bringing the total number of such deaths this year to 19.

Despite police directives to enhance security measures from March 1, armed robbers have continued to target citizens, with multiple fatal incidents reported across the city.

A case has been registered regarding the murder of Muhammad Imran, an accountant who was shot dead during a robbery.

According to the FIR, Imran was carrying Rs 5.1 million from a bank along with a security guard and driver when three armed robbers on a motorcycle intercepted them.

The suspects snatched the guard’s weapon, and when Imran resisted, they opened fire, fatally injuring him before fleeing with the cash.

CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing Imran’s struggle with the assailants.

Street crimes in Karachi have seen a surge since the beginning of Ramadan 2025.

On March 2, a shopkeeper in Scheme 33, Ghazi Goth, was killed by robbers. Similarly, on March 6, a security guard named Sajid was shot dead in PECHS Block 2.

Additionally, two citizens, Babar and Wasim, were murdered in Sohrab Goth and Quaidabad in separate robbery resistance incidents.
