Beating India will be very tough for Pakistan: Saurav Ganguly

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has expressed confidence in India’s chances at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, backing them as tournament favorites.

Speaking about the high-voltage India vs. Pakistan clash, Ganguly stated, “India is a strong white-ball team and has dominated Pakistan in recent years. Beating India in Dubai will be very tough for Pakistan.”

On Virat Kohli’s struggles against leg-spinners, Ganguly remained optimistic. “With his experience and quality, I am sure Kohli will overcome this challenge,” he said.

Praising Mohammed Shami’s recent five-wicket haul against Bangladesh, Ganguly said, “I am not surprised by Shami’s fifer. He will continue to lead the attack. Of course, (Jasprit) Bumrah is the best bowler in the world right now, but Shami is not too far behind. The key is for him to stay fit throughout the tournament and shoulder the responsibility of bowling, just like Bumrah has done in his absence,” Ganguly remarked.

India will look to continue their dominance as they prepare for the much-anticipated showdown against Pakistan on Sunday February 23, 2025.
