Two elephants at the Safari Park have been diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB), a dangerous disease that poses significant health risks.

The elephants, Madhubala and Malika, are currently undergoing medical consultations, with expert doctors closely monitoring their condition.

Meanwhile, the vaccinations for the elephants’ mahouts, or caretakers, have already been completed.

Amjad Zaidi, the Director of Safari Park, confirmed the diagnosis and mentioned that various tests have been carried out on the elephants.

A panel of experts, including Sri Lankan doctors and professionals from Forpas, has been assembled to ensure the elephants receive the best care possible.

The elephants are being examined every other day to closely track their health.

This development comes after the tragic death of another elephant, Sonia, who also succumbed to TB at the park.

Efforts are ongoing to manage and treat the elephants’ condition, ensuring the health and safety of both the animals and their caretakers.
